  11. Take Sweetened Crunchy Peanut Butter
Steps to make Sweet Coconut Dumplings:
  1. Prepare the filling. This time I used ‘Tsubu-an’ (Sweet ‘Azuki’ Red Bean Paste). Firm Custard is another very popular filling. Soft fillings are difficult to wrap with the dough. I recommend to make the filling into 16 balls, 2cm in size, and FREEZE them until hard enough to handle.
  2. Place Glutinous Rice Flour, Rice Flour, Caster Sugar and Salt in a large bowl, stir to combine. Add Warm Water to the flour, mix and knead to achieve the firmness of dough same as firmness of your earlobe. (*This is traditionally taught.) Add extra water or extra flour to achieve this.
  3. Divide the dough into 16 portions. Flatten one portion of the dough on your hand and place one ball of filling in centre and draw the edges up to enclose. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
  4. Pour water into a steamer pan and bring to the boil over high heat. Line the bottom of the steamer with baking paper, place dumplings on the baking paper, cover with lid and steam for 10 minutes.
  5. Place some Desiccated Coconut on a plate, roll cooked hot dumplings to coat with the Coconut.
  6. Repeat with remaining dumplings. Serve warm.

How to Improve Your Mood with Food

For the most part, people have been conditioned to think that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and must be avoided. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this is true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be super nourishing and good for you. There are some foods that actually can boost your moods when you consume them. If you seem to be a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try several of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be truly great at dealing with depression. Just see to it that you don’t get rid of the yolk. The yolk is the most important part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the yolk particularly, are rich in B vitamins. These B vitamins are terrific for helping to improve your mood. This is because these vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that tell you how to feel). Consume an egg and cheer up!

Make a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etcetera are all good for improving your mood. This is possible since these foods are rich in magnesium which promotes your production of serotonin. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that directs your brain how you feel at all times. The more of this chemical in your brain, the better you’ll feel. Not only that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic source of protein.

Cold water fish are great if you would like to feel better. Cold water fish like tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3s. DHA and omega-3s are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can greatly raise your mood.

Grains can be excellent for driving away a terrible mood. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all really wonderful for helping increase your happiness levels. These grains can help you feel full for longer also, helping you feel better. Feeling hungry can be a real downer! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are not difficult for your stomach to digest. You digest these foods quicker than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.

Your mood could truly be helped by green tea. You were just expecting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea has been found to be packed full of an amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have discovered that this amino acid basically induces brain waves. This helps improve your mental energy while at the same time relaxing the rest of your body. You already knew green tea could help you become so much healthier. Now you know that applies to your mood too!

See, you don’t need to stuff your face with junk food when you wish to feel better! Try these suggestions instead!
