If you feel a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try several of these.

Eggs, you may be surprised to discover, are great at combating depression. Just see to it that you don’t throw away the yolk. The egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping raise your mood. Eggs, the yolk particularly, are stuffed full of B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to raise your mood. This is because these vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Eat an egg and cheer up!

Put together several trail mix of nuts or seeds. Your mood can be elevated by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera. Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you want to combat depression. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3s. It’s easy to fight your bad mood when you eat grains. Barley, quinoa, millet, teff, etc are all great for helping you feel better. They fill you up better and that can help you with your moods as well. Feeling famished can actually bring you down! The reason these grains help your mood so much is that they are not difficult for your stomach to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.

Your mood can really be helped by green tea. You were simply anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid actually stimulates brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while simultaneously calming the rest of your body. You already knew green tea could help you become healthier. Now you are aware that it helps you to elevate your moods as well!
