Eggs, you might be astonished to discover, are great at fighting depression. Just be sure that you don’t toss out the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are rich in B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be terrific for lifting up your mood. This is because they help in bettering the function of your neural transmitters, the components of your brain that dictate your mood. Consume an egg and feel a lot happier!

Make a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Your mood can be elevated by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because seeds and nuts have a lot of magnesium which raises your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is known as the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The more serotonin in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Not only that, nuts, particularly, are a great source of protein.

Cold water fish are great if you want to feel better. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all loaded with omega-3 and DHA. Grains can be wonderful for overcoming a bad mood. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are terrific at helping you feel happier. They can help you feel full for longer also, helping you feel better. It’s not hard to feel low when you are starving! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are not hard for your body to digest. They are simpler to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood.

Green tea is really great for your mood. You just knew it had to be in here somewhere, right? Green tea is rich in a specific amino acid called L-theanine.
