A lot of us have been trained to believe that comfort foods are terrible and to be avoided. At times, if your comfort food is candy or another junk food, this holds true. At times, comfort foods can be perfectly nutritious and good for us to eat. Some foods actually do boost your mood when you eat them. If you feel a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.
Eggs, believe it or not, are great for helping you fight depression. You should see to it, however, that what you make includes the yolk. Whenever you would like to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, the yolk particularly, are high in B vitamins. B vitamins can be great for elevating your mood. This is because they help in bettering the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that dictate your mood. Try eating a couple of eggs to jolly up!
Put together a trail mixfrom a variety of seeds and nuts. Your mood can be improved by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc. This is because seeds and nuts have a lot of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The more of this chemical in your brain, the better you’ll feel. Nuts, in addition to improving your mood, can be a super protein source.
Cold water fish are great if you want to feel better. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all high in omega-3 and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can truly help you overcome your depression.
Grains can be great for overcoming a bad mood. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually excellent for helping raise your happiness levels. They fill you up better and that can help improve your moods also. Feeling hungry can truly make you feel awful! The reason these grains can improve your mood is that they are not hard for your stomach to digest. You digest them quicker than other things which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.
Your mood could really be helped by green tea. You knew green tea had to be in this article somewhere, right? Green tea has been found to be chock-full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies show that this particular amino acid can actually stimulate brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while simultaneously calming the rest of your body.
