Discover How to Elevate Your Mood with Food

A lot of us think that comfort foods are bad for us and that we should keep away from them. At times, if the comfort food is a sugary food or another junk food, this holds true. Other times, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to eat. Some foods honestly do elevate your mood when you consume them. If you feel a little bit down and you need a happiness pick me up, try some of these.

Eggs, you might be astonished to discover, are wonderful at fighting depression. Just be sure that you don’t toss out the egg yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that is the most crucial in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, specifically the egg yolks, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can truly help you raise your mood. This is because they help in improving the function of your neural transmitters, the components of your brain that control your mood. Consume an egg and jolly up!

Make a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all good for improving your mood. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin levels. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The higher your serotonin levels, the happier you will feel. Not just that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic source of protein.

If you wish to beat depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Tuna, trout, mackerel, herring and wild salmon are all full of omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two substances that boost the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can actually help you overcome your depression.

It’s easy to drive away your bad mood when you eat grains. Barley, millet, quinoa, etc are great at helping you feel better. They help you feel full as well which can actually help to improve your mood. Feeling starved can really make you feel terrible! These grains can improve your mood since it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. You digest them more quickly than other things which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.

Your mood can really be helped by green tea. You were sure green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea is found to be rich in an amino acid called L-theanine. Research has proved that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously making the rest of your body more relaxed. You were already aware that that green tea helps you feel healthier. Now you know green tea can help raise your mood too!

Now you can see that junk food isn’t necessarily what you need to eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Try a few of these tips instead.
