Foods That Make Your Mood Better

Mostly, people have been conditioned to believe that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and have to be avoided. At times, if your comfort food is candy or some other junk food, this is true. Other times, though, comfort foods can be completely nutritious and it’s good for you to consume them. There are several foods that, when you eat them, may boost your mood. If you feel a little bit down and you need an emotional pick me up, try several of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, are wonderful for helping you fight depression. Just be sure that you don’t throw away the yolk. Whenever you would like to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, specifically the egg yolks, are full of B vitamins. These B vitamins are terrific for helping to elevate your mood. This is because the B vitamins improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Try eating a few eggs to jolly up!

Put together a trail mix out of seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be elevated by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is because these nuts are high in magnesium, which helps to boost serotonin production. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical substance that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The more of it you have, the happier you are going to feel. Not just that but nuts, specifically, are a great source of protein.

Cold water fish are good if you would like to feel happier. Cold water fish such as tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that really help the grey matter in your brain run a lot better. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can really help you fight back depression.

Grains can be great for driving away a terrible mood. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are terrific at helping you be happier. These foods can help you feel full for longer also, helping you feel better. Feeling famished can be terrible! The reason these grains help your mood so much is that they are easy for your stomach to digest. You digest these grains more quickly than other foods which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.

Your mood can really be helped by green tea. You just knew green tea had to be in this article somewhere, right? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has proved that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This helps raise your mental focus while relaxing the rest of your body. You probably already knew how easy it is to be healthy when you drink green tea. Now you know that green tea can elevate your mood too!

You can see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are bad for you just so to feel better! Try several of these instead!
