Foods That Can Make You Happy

Most of us think that comfort foods are bad for us and that we should keep away from them. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this holds true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be very healthy and good for us to consume. There are some foods that really can boost your moods when you consume them. If you feel a little bit down and you need a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be really terrific at fighting back depression. You need to make sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the egg yolks especially, are loaded with B vitamins. B vitamins can genuinely help you elevate your mood. This is because they help in improving the function of your neural transmitters, the components of your brain that dictate your mood. Try eating a couple of eggs to feel better!

Make a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be improved by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is because these foods are rich in magnesium, which helps to raise serotonin production. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical that dictates to your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more serotonin in your brain, the more pleasant you’ll feel. Not only that but nuts, specifically, are a fantastic source of protein.

Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you are wanting to combat depression. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all rich in omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly boost your mood.

Some grains are truly excellent for fighting off bad moods. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all good for helping you feel happier. They can help you feel full for longer too, which is a mood improver. Feeling hungry can really make you feel awful! These grains can elevate your mood because it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. You digest them faster than other foods which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.

Your mood could truly be helped by green tea. You were sure it had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is found to be rich in an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies prove that this particular amino acid can actually induce brain waves. This helps better your mental sharpness while calming the rest of your body. You knew green tea could help you be healthier. And now you are aware that green tea can help raise your mood also!

Now you can see that junk food isn’t necessarily what you have to eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Try several of these instead!
