Turn to Food to Improve Your Mood

Many of us believe that comfort foods are bad for us and that we must stay away from them. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this might be true. At times, comfort foods can be utterly healthy and good for us to consume. There are several foods that actually can improve your moods when you eat them. If you feel a little bit down and in need of an emotional pick me up, try some of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are terrific for helping you battle depression. Just see to it that you do not throw away the yolk. When you want to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most vital part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolk particularly, are stuffed full of B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for elevating your mood. This is because they increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Try consuming a couple of eggs to cheer up!

Put together a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and so on are all wonderful for improving your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have a lot of magnesium which boosts your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” natural substance that dictates to your brain how you feel at all times. The higher your levels of serotonin, the better you are going to feel. Not only that, nuts, specifically, are a great protein source.

Cold water fish are great if you wish to feel happier. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all loaded with omega-3s and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can truly help you overcome your depression.

Grains can be wonderful for fighting a terrible mood. Teff, barley, millet, quinoa, etc are all good for helping you feel happier. They help you feel full too which can truly help to better your mood. It’s not difficult to feel depressed when you feel hungry! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are not difficult to digest. You digest them quicker than other foods which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel happier, mood wise.

Your mood can truly be helped by green tea. You knew green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies prove that this particular amino acid can basically induce brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while at the same loosening up the rest of your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you feel a lot healthier. Now you are aware that it helps you to raise your moods as well!

You can see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are terrible for you to feel better! Go with these suggestions instead!
